Rich’s Fishes, LLC was originally established by Rich Terrell in 2015 after seeing the need for a knowledgeable and experienced aquarium service company. Rich holds a M.S. in Marine Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Delaware. He has worked for over 20 years with fishes, invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians and mammals in zoos and aquariums from Maryland to Kentucky to his current home in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. On top of all this experience Rich is a passionate home aquarium hobbyist who’s kept and bred many different fish species. And he brings all of that knowledge and experience to bear on every project, from maintaining a small tropical freshwater aquarium in a private home to a pair of large reef aquariums in UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Rich’s experience also includes:

• 20+ years at public aquariums and zoos in animal care

• Assistant Curator, then Curator of the Newport Aquarium 2000-2002

• President of Greater Pittsburgh Aquarium Society, Inc. 2017-present

• President of Pittsburgh Marine Aquarium Society, Inc 2009

• 8+ years in retail aquarium pet industry.

Our goal is to create inspiring and engaging aquarium displays that elevate reality past the clients’ wildest expectations. We do this by communicating with our client about their goals and vision. Tapping into our familiarity with the organisms found in aquatic environments allows us to offer displays that go beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary. Our decades in the public aquarium and retail pet industry have created connections all over the world to aid us in developing home or office aquarium display concepts at the level of those found in the best public aquariums.

We offer consulting for those hobbyists struggling to overcome issues with their aquariums. We perform one-time aquarium deep-cleaning as well as regular maintenance. And our networks of local breeders and national suppliers provide our clients with unparalleled access to even the rarest fishes, corals, reptiles and amphibians..
